Roselle Arts and Culture Foundation Mosaic Art Project Ribbon Cutting

Centennial Mosaic
Public Art Project

We first started promoting the Centennial Mosaic Public Art Project at the Taste of Roselle in August of 2021 after workshopping it with Village officials, local businesses, friends, and neighbors. It was important to us that many voices were heard and that the end result felt inclusive and representative of 100 years of Roselle.

We were also thrilled to collaborate with the Roselle Fine Arts Academy and several nonprofit organizations in the area to spread the word and make the mosaic a great group effort across the community! We’ve highlighted some of those events below:

Spreading the word about our organization and inaugural public art project at the Roselle Fine Arts Academy’s Fall Fest!
Participating in the Rotary Club of Bloomingdale-Roselle’s Trunk-or-Treat!
Adorned an RACF-colored tree for the Annual Youth Holiday Tree Program!
Collecting word and idea submissions for the Centennial Mosaic Public Art Project at the 1st Annual Winterfest.
Walked in our first parade at Roselle 1st Bockfest hosted by the Roselle Sister Cities Association!
Partnered with the Roselle Garden Club to help children make lovely, mosaic-minded Mother’s Day gifts!

We introduced the concept
early, knowing we’d only have
12 months to deliver on a vision.

A public art project of this magnitude truly tested the time-management skills of everyone involved. Within 12 months, we built a diverse board to represent the public, hosted student workshops to involve our youngest residents, gained perspectives from our hometown Historical Foundation and the seniors in the community, and launched marketing and fundraising efforts to ensure private funding of the entire project, designed and re-designed the initial and final mockups across two art teams, made space for constructive criticism from all angles, addressed issues before, during, & after the community-driven construction days, overcame several obstacles to meet our ribbon-cutting deadline, and, somehow, still came out smiling!
